| Featuring patented Vac-U-Max tube hopper
material receivers and microprocessor control, this system is a relatively
simple example of how previously manual operations can be cleaned
up and automated. The system automatically conveys tablet granulations
from drums to surge bins over six tablet presses in individual rooms.
A tube hopper material receiver, with vertical sides to minimize
material hang-up, is located over each surge bin. The microprocessor,
in panel shown below, constantly scans level controls on the surge
bins and initiates conveying of tablet formulation to the receiver
over any press requiring material.
Laborious hand scooping is eliminated, housekeeping is vastly improved
and the system insures that no press will run dry, which could cause
costly tooling damage.
Programmable control panel, in foreground right, and vacuum pump,
at right, are located in an adjacent room. The control panel, with
its microprocessor, is the nerve center for the system and has reserve
capacity to handle a total of sixteen presses. Vacuum is applied
to the material receivers over all six presses by one vacuum pump.
